Jessica offers to help an exhausted new mother (Honey) for a month. Eddie and Emery attempt to put together an exercise regimen. Louis tries to bond more with Evan.
- Comically Missing the Point: By the end of Eddie and Emery's plot, their attempts to look good working out have taken precedence over actually working out, to the point that they abandon exercising because it would make them look sweaty.
- Commonality Connection: At the end of the Louis/Evan plot, Louis gives up trying to bond with Evan when their tastes are so different...but when he puts on Twister while Evan is nearby, they start bonding over the film's inaccuracies (towards both meteorological research and romantic relationships).
- Control Freak: Jessica acts as one when she takes over Honey's schedule, removing all of Honey's comforts with bitter remedies and strict regimens, to the point that Honey flees her own house.
- Language Barrier: Honey eventually breaks out of her own house and relaxes with Grandma Huang in her air-conditioned garage. Grandma Huang then gives Honey some advice in her native tongue...but when Honey admits she doesn't understand a word of Mandarin, Grandma settles for a few words of English and revealing a ton of unsold copies of Jessica's books hiding under her bed.
- Replacement Goldfish: By the end of the main plot, Honey realizes that Jessica's been overly controlling of Honey's schedule and trying to make her the best possible mother to make up for her complete lack of success at becoming an author.
- The Un Favourite: In a reversal of the normal situation, Louis is disappointed when he learns that Evan prefers Jessica over him, and most of their plot is Louis trying to connect with his son.
