Louis' brother Gene (played by Ken Jeong) comes to visit from Taiwan with big news to share. Having borrowed $200 from Gene many years ago to buy Louis a wedding ring, Jessica tries to find ways to covertly repay Gene, only to learn that Louis has secretly sent Gene thousands of dollars over the years. Meanwhile, Eddie tries to find a way to watch Chris Rock's latest HBO comedy special "Bring the Pain" so that he can discuss it with Alison and their friends, but Emery and Evan block him at every turn on Jessica's orders.
- Cliffhanger: The episode ends with Gene leaving early, taking Grandma Huang with him and un-inviting the rest of the family, and Louis vowing to take the family to Taiwan regardless, leading to the events of the first episode of the next season.
- Once Done, Never Forgotten: When confronted about taking so much money over the years, Gene rants about how Louis "stole" his chance to come to America, as it turns out their father would only permit one of them to go and Louis decided to take the opportunity after he and Gene tried repeatedly offering it to the other. It soon turns out that Gene is actually very successful back in Taiwan, but still believes Louis owes him for this act.
