Frasier tries to keep Roz from discovering he is chummy with her ex-boyfriend (played by Gary Cole).
Tropes:
- Closet Shuffle: Frasier decides to visit the ex on his houseboat, only to hear Roz and hide in a nearby closet, where he learns that the ex and Roz hooked back up. Then Roz comes back because she forgot something, only to hear the ex with a second girl, and Frasier pulls her into the closet with him. After remarking on the ex's lecherousness, they then accidentally activate an inflatable raft and are launched out of the closet in front of the ex and his second date.
- Friend Versus Lover: An odd variation, in that it's more "Old Friend Vs. New Friend", but the two friends were former lovers.
- Handsome Lech: By the end of the episode, Roz is getting back together with her ex without telling Frasier, only for them both to wind up hiding in a closet on his houseboat and learn that he's dating another girl at the same time. Even Frasier feels cheated on, as the ex had called him an inspiration, but says the same thing to the new girl.
- School Is for Losers: Played with, in that Roz's ex dropped out of Harvard, but not due to it being too hard for him; rather, he preferred doing things himself over reading about what others have done, and has since lived a life of adventure, including circumnavigating the world on a boat he built while dealing with pirates along the way.
