Cade is shot by the police and hides by taking a woman hostage in her apartment. Pursued by the authorities, a bounty hunter and the Gua, he must hold out until nightfall while the Gua try to trick him into revealing the location of the Nostradamus book.
Tropes:
- After Action Patch Up: Cade is shot in the side while running from the police. He treats himself using Lena's home First Aid kit.
- Bound and Gagged: Cade takes Lena hostage in her apartment and ties her to a chair. She frees herself, but he catches her again.
- The Cuckoolander Was Right: Eddie insists to the bounty hunter that aliens are real and that Cade is humanity's best hope of defeating them. The bounty hunter assumes he's crazy. When the bounty hunter catches up to Cade, sees a Gua husk vanish and realises Eddie was right, he reluctantly lets Cade go (apparently that bounty was big). Lena also realises Cade was right.
- Honey Trap: Lena turns out to be a Trojan Prisoner, taken hostage on purpose to seduce Cade into revealing where he and Eddie hid the Nostradamus book. He doesn't, but it's close.
- Water Torture: When the bounty hunter finds Eddie, he repeatedly forces his head into a water barrel to pressure him into giving up Cade's location. Eddie doesn't talk, but his equipment gives Cade away when he calls in.
