Bad Seed

When a news anchor is shot dead in the station's parking lot, the task force must dive into a story she was working on in order to track down her killer; Remy debates revisiting the case around his brother's murder.


Tropes:

  • Frame-Up: Remy learns that his murdered brother's stab wounds were delivered post-mortem and that the knife used was placed in Larry Michael Davis' tent to frame Davis by the the actual killer(s).
  • Medical Rape and Impregnate: Husband and wife Miles and Savannah Maddox were the product of their biological father, Dr. Gregory Scanlon, committing fertility fraud who knowingly passed down lupus to his offspring.
  • Narcissist: Dr. Gregory Scanlon is described as such for committing fertility fraud for years using his own sperm to impregnate women without their knowledge and passing his lupus to his offspring.
    Kristin: "This guy's a textbook pathological narcissist. He's all ego, considers himself infallible."
  • Surprise Incest: Husband and wife Miles and Savannah Maddox were horrified to learn from their DNA ancestry test kits that they are actually half-siblings after being married for three years. What's worse is they also learned that they were the product of their biological father, Dr. Gregory Scanlon, committing fertility fraud who knowingly passed down lupus to his offspring.
  • The Reason You Suck: Remy delivers this Dr. Scanlon as he is arrested for committing fertility fraud.
    Remy: "You're toast. I hope they gut you like a rainbow trout in prison. [To arresting officers] Read this son of a bitch his rights."
  • Was It All a Lie?: Discussed between Remy and Serena Wade when he learns that the man convicted of murdering his brother is actually innocent and framed by the real killer(s), leaving Remy wondering if his life and career was built around a lie.
    Remy: "For 30 years, I bought the story this prosecutor was selling. I built my whole worldview around it... My life, my career... [Sighs] Maybe there was a part of me that didn't wanna know. I refuse to make that mistake again."
  • Wham Episode: Remy learns that Larry Michael Davis, the man convicted of murdering his younger brother Michael, is actually innocent and that his brother's real killer is still out there.
