Recap / Duck Tales Beaglemania

Go To

The Beagle Boys become the latest music sensation in Duckburg, much to Scrooge's chagrin.

This episode contains examples of the following tropes:

  • Becoming the Mask: The Beagle Boys originally intended to steal the one-million dollar grand prize at a band concert contest. They barely avoided being caught red-handed by pretending to be a contestant band. As a result, they actually win the grand prize and their musical careers take off. The Beagle Boys actually do learn to enjoy making money honestly, but that didn't last long thanks to Scrooge and Ma Beagle.
  • Big, Screwed-Up Family: The Beagles aren't the only example. Ma Beagle is a member of a club for criminals' mothers and, during a meeting, she's berated for having sons who earn honest money.
  • Cooperation Gambit: Scrooge cooperates with Ma Beagle to destroy the Beagle Boys' musical career.
  • Enemy Mine: Ma Beagle and Scrooge team up to take the Beagle Boys down, Ma because they fired her as their agent, and Scrooge so that they'll stop spending his money, since he owns the record label that signed them.
  • Revenge Before Reason: Scrooge's hatred for the Beagle Boys is such that he is prepared to do almost anything to ruin their musical careers, despite the fact that they are fully prepared to make an honest living in this episode. The Beagle Boys are also sponsored by a record company owned by Scrooge himself, which means that part of their profits go to him. Despite this, Scrooge's Irrational Hatred is such that when the Beagle Boys are ruined, he celebrates by inviting an Elvis Impersonator, who failed an audition that the Beagle Boys won earlier in the episode, to personally sing for him. The impersonator's singing is horrible, but Scrooge doesn't mind one bit.
  • Shout-Out: The title is a pun on "Beatlemania".
