An unlikely ally helps Hiccup uncover Singetail behaviors that can be exploited to conquer the Flyers, while an overconfident Krogan makes a strategic error.
Tropes:
- A Day in the Limelight: Spitelout gets almost a full episode dedicated to him, between his new emergency reserves and his quest for "Jorgunson Revenge" on the Singetails that destroyed his first supply cache, to the Battle for the Edge.
- Epic Hail: When a Singetail is in distress, it creates a huge fire to alert others. Hiccup uses this in part of his plan to defeat Krogan's army.
- Internal Reveal: The Riders discover both Viggo and the Dragon Eye survived their trip into the Edge Volcano.
- Lame Comeback: The "revenge" equivalent. What was Spitelout's plan for revenge against the singetails destroying his storehouse? He spies on them, learns their personalities, manages to capture one of them in a net, mocks it like crazy and then... that's it.
- Suicidal Overconfidence: Krogan deploys all his aerial forces to defeat the Berkian armada, but does not foresee Hiccup's strategy to non-lethally defeat the Flyers.
- Theme Naming: Spitelout names all of the Singetails that he has been spying on a different word that describes their personality followed by "-lout" (except for the lazy, narcissistic one he named "Stoick").
- We Named the Monkey "Jack": Spitelout names one of the Singetails "Stoick".
- You Have Outlived Your Usefulness: Krogan is prepared to literally stab Viggo in the back once he gets the Dragon-Eye working, but Viggo senses him coming and a mook interrupts before Krogan can strike. Viggo then mocks Krogan for his poor attempt at sneaking.
