Go To

William Bissell, an notorious media tycoon and cruel tyrant of a man drops by Community General to drop off a lawsuit for pain and suffering. He has been in severe pain on account of his dual knee surgery, and is pointing the blaming figure at the hospital and the surgeon who did his operation Dr. Karen Fielder. Norman, desperate to keep Community general running, capitulates to him and offers rooms for Bissell to run his empire while still having time for his physical therapies.

"Murder Most Vial" displays symptoms of the following tropes:

  • Asshole Victim: William was an utter tyrant and slimy rich son of a bitch, so it's not horrifically sad to see him go.
  • Chekhov's Gun: The new coffee vending machines Mark squeezes out of Norman, as they give Mark an epiphany that Emily's alibi is full of crap.
  • Frivolous Lawsuit:
    • Bissell plans to sue the hospital for malpractice, gross negligence, and in his own words, "whatever he can think of". Mark says the case is likely to be laughed out of a real courtroom, but Bissell's media empire makes Norman fear he'll likely kill CG's reputation more than the suit itself could.
    • Mark assembles one over his own injury tripping over Bissell's stuff in order to extort Norman into improving things at Community General.
  • Never My Fault: Bissell blames CG for the pain he has been feeling after his knee surgery, despite the fact the Dr. Fielder outright told him operation on both knees at once was impractical and he hasn't bothered to do any of his physical therapy at the hospital.
  • Teeth-Clenched Teamwork: When he and Emily are found out, he tells Mark that the act the two put on of hating each other's guts was no act.
