Deus Ex Universe: The Dawning Darkness

Arun Singh, an undercover agent for Task Force 29, heads to a meeting with a local contact named Salar at a market. Salar tells Singh that he's setting up an arms deal that will prove to be very profitable for the Jinn, the terrorist group Singh has infiltrated.

A nearby Back-Alley Doctor comes out to display one of the items the Jinn stand to gain from the transaction — an augmented eye that was just ripped out of the courier who delivered it. Salar tells Singh that the Jinn have much to gain from the transaction, and asks him to get the seller's contact information and prove that he has what it takes to succeed in the organization.

Several hours later, Singh and a group of Jinn arrive at the abandoned Desert Jewel hotel in Dubai. Singh tells the others that the location is perfect, even though there are still homeless squatters in the area. The group executes a vagrant man before leaving and heads to the nearby Emirate International Hotel.

Singh orders the two men with him to stay in the vehicle and says that he will handle the negotiations for the deal himself, despite their protests. He goes up to a high-rise penthouse and meets several of the seller's representatives. After Singh asks which one will be staying to negotiate, the lead representative tries to make up an excuse. He barely gets a few words out before Singh executes the rest of the people in the room and tells the shocked man that they're allied with the Jinn and there's nothing to be afraid of. He asks the man to dial the seller, then picks up the phone and tells the unnamed individual to call back in five minutes.

On his way down the stairs, Singh writes a secure text message to TF29 informing them about the imminent deal and that the meet is a go. When he gets outside, the seller calls him back and expresses admiration for the way he handled the deal. Singh confirms the meeting place in front of his men before the seller hangs up...

In Prague, TF29 commander Jim Miller is having a videoconference with his boss, Joseph Manderley. Miller tells him that the Oman team can be ready to intercept the meet in two hours, but Manderley says that TF29 is more capable of mobilizing quickly and that they should be the ones to handle the operation.

While Singh finalizes the money transfer with Salar, Miller pulls in the task force and tells them to get ready to mobilize for Dubai. Adam Jensen asks why they're sending Task Force 29 instead of the Oman team, but Miller says it's above both their pay grades.

With that, the team heads for the Desert Rose hotel...
