Original Airdate: June 29, 2001

Summary

Somewhere, in a stormy srea within the Magical Gate, a new Web Knight rises, with a Web Diver bonded to him. With Deletloss giving them the order, they prepare to fight against Gladion. Meanwhile, back at school, the Shinnou twin's argument over their model kit reminds Kento of his rivalry with Naoki, one of the children who are still trapped within the Magical Gate.

With wings spread out, the rogue Web Knight casts a shadow that stops the movement of those covered by it. The class notice the teacher being engulfed by the shadow, and soon realizes that it's spreading to the classroom. Aoi has an idea to flee to a studio, using its lighting equipment to surpass the shadow spread. She has the idea when she observed a little earlier that an accidental photo flash briefly stopped the shadow movement. Kento takes the opportunity to dive into the Magical Station.

Speaking of the earlier devil, Kento is confronted by Naoki as the his new opponent. An aggressive boaster, he is partnered with Dragwon, a strong Web Knight on par with Gladion and Garyun, if not stronger. Gladion is at a huge disadvantage in battle—while he fights well on land, Dragwon specializes in combat at outer space. Dragwon dominates Gladion and almost finishes him when Garyun intercepts Dragwon's final move.

Naoki taunts Kento into running away while he still can, only for the latter to call the former out. Kento remembers that the real Naoki wouldn't have his opponents run away and accuses him of cowardice. Being called a coward angers Naoki greatly, causing Dragwon to loose control over his body. This give Gladion an opportunity to attack, inflicting a great wound on Dragwon. Dragwon calls the battle to be postponed and retreats.

With Dragwon leaving the area, the shadow in Diverland disappears. Naoki apologies for losing his cool. Dragwon may fail to defeat Gladion, but he has seen enough of his abilities. With this knowledge, he calls forth the Black Web Knights to take down Gladion on his behalf.
