Jeremy's restaurant idea is re-born, and there's not a moment to waste...
— Synopsis
Clarkson provides a voiceover, comparing the farm shop to a ship holed below the waterline, with many plans having to be given up thanks to the council's constant rejections. However, by this time, it was spring, so the cows could be put back in their field after having resided in the barn for some five months; Clarkson, Charlie, Lisa and Kaleb then release the cows into one field and the calves and their mothers in another. Some of the cows prove to be quite disobedient, but with teamwork the team wrangles the cows into their fields; they celebrate with tea. A few days later, with bird flu cases on the decline, the chickens are finally released.

Clarkson admits that while it was good that the animals were free to roam, he and the team wonder how the farm can make money; Clarkson discusses this with Lisa, who state that for the farm to make money they have to exploit as many loopholes as possible, but staying "just" on the right side. The first loophole comes into play when the farm shop reopens, with Lisa clearing stock of the various t-shirts and hats they had on offer by "giving" them away "for free"; by selling various types of vegetables for exorbitant prices and including a piece of clothing or bag alongside it, Lisa manages to clear the stock.

Charlie on the other hand discovers another loophole which could be used to solve the farm shop's parking issues; this loophole allows the team to use any parcel of land as a temporary parking spot for 28 days before the council can take any action. Alan later arrives, with Clarkson lamenting to him about the council's decision; it is here that Alan informs Clarkson of another potential loophole, in that so long as a barn or other building smaller than 150 square meters has been on property for ten years, it can be used for any purpose, with no planning permission required. Alan and Clarkson talk about this loophole, with Clarkson later contacting Charlie regarding this potential loophole; half an hour later, Charlie phones Clarkson back, saying that using that barn was allowed for it was structurally sound.

Clarkson goes to inspect the barn and finds it conducive for his operation, although he admits that repairs need to be done before they go ahead. Due to the size of the barn, there would not be enough space for a proper kitchen, so most preparation had to be done at the farm itself at a separate prep kitchen; to solve this issue, Clarkson plans a farm track to transport the prepared food from the prep kitchen to the restaurant, something he had been wanting to do for some time. Alan and his crew begin surveying and repairing the barn, while Clarkson begins work on the farm track, arguing it would be beneficial for all parties. Kaleb, observing Clarkson from afar, soon drives to Clarkson in his tractor, perplexed at what Clarkson is doing and reprimanding him for his shoddy work.

Now with the track complete, Clarkson enlists the help of Lee, the builder of the cow barn, and his team to dig a small quarry to make the surface for the track. Clarkson uses one of Lee's vibration compaction rollers to help smooth out the track, but quickly abandons this job to Lee and his team due to other more important tasks needing Clarkson's attention. Back at the farm office, Clarkson meets Pip Lacey, a celebrity chef scouted by Clarkson to run his restaurant, and discusses with her the plans for food in the restaurant; he then proceeds to give Pip a tour of the farm's implements used for the restaurant. When Clarkson actually takes Pip to the restaurant, she is taken aback by its small size, and discusses with her the intended plans of the restaurant.

Pip and Clarkson decide on a minimalistic meat-based menu catering to the customers of the farm shop. Pip then sets off to start preparing some sample dishes for Clarkson's consideration, while Clarkson visits Dilwyn, who is checking to see if another round of artificial insemination worked for Pepper; Clarkson mentions that the last round of insemination was successful for Deeny, but not Pepper, and as such Clarkson ordered a third round for the latter as a last resort. Unfortunately for Clarkson, Pepper is not in calf for the third time in a row; Dilwyn mentions that all her internal organs are working fine, but cannot figure out why she cannot get in calf. Clarkson asks Dilwyn for advice as to what more could be done to get Pepper pregant, with Dilwyn suggesting that Clarkson rent a bull.

Clarkson decides to rent a bull. While the team searches for a bull, Clarkson decides to plant echium as an attempt to diversify and earn significant profits, arguing it would also be beneficial to the farm's ecosystem. Having fitted a new 1-ton weight to his tractor, Clarkson sets off to plant the echium but has no clue how to use the drill; he contacts Kaleb, who gives Clarkson a refresher course on how to use the drill. Charlie drops by soon after to observe them and engages in conversation with them; Kaleb then insists he do the drilling himself, with Clarkson arguing he should be the one doing this as there are no tramlines.

Continuing with the refresher course, Clarkson gets even more confused, much to Charlie's amusement and Kaleb's annoyance. Eventually, Clarkson starts seed drilling but gets stopped after a few meters by Kaleb and Charlie due to the drill not working as intended. Kaleb steps in to fix the issues, worrying Clarkson; soon after, the issues are fixed and Clarkson goes cultivating, with the machine cutting a groove into the ground for Clarkson to spot. However, due to the way the field was cultivated, the groove was not visible from Clarkson's view, annoying him. Clarkson decides to report this to Kaleb, expecting more of his grumbling; Kaleb however admits that spotting the groove made was difficult even for him, surprising Clarkson.

Kaleb decides to use a crop roller to create a wavy line around the field to make things easier for Clarkson and they finish cultivating the echium. The next day, with the bull expected to arrive, Clarkson and Gerald set up signs, some of which were humorous, to inform visitors of the presence of a bull. About an hour later, Tim and Katy arrive with the bull, Maestro, and they release it into the field. Immediately, the other calves start warming up to Maestro; Clarkson then voices his concerns about Pepper and then decide to leave the cows to it. With everyone having left, Clarkson is left in the field, discussing what is at stake if even a bull cannot get Pepper pregnant, telling the viewers "to fill in the blanks".

A few days later, Clarkson takes the first of the cows to slaughter to produce beef for his restaurant. After finishing paperwork, Clarkson goes to say his last goodbyes to the cow scheduled for slaughter and attempts to console himself, saying he would have to think the same things when the next cow was scheduled for slaughter the next week. Back at the farm, Alan and his team work on the restaurant, while Pip comes back with sample dishes for Clarkson to try; Clarkson is impressed at Pip's abilities, and her team begins work setting up the prep kitchen. In addition, work on the farm track is going smoothly.

Clarkson notes that he had felt weak the entire day; the next morning, he registers a positive COVID test. Knowing that work on the farm cannot stop, Clarkson sets up a socially-distanced meeting with Charlie, who brings more planning information from the council; Gerald, having caught the virus again, drops by for a brief chat while masked and socially distanced. Charlie breaks the bad news to Clarkson, in that the council have refused the farm track, claiming that it is unnecessary for agricultural purposes within the farm. Throwing his hands up, Clarkson wonders if a farmer had ever been turned down for a farm track; Charlie replies, saying that has never happened before. Clarkson and Charlie then discuss plans for the restaurant, knowing they have to do it in secrecy.

Tropes featured in the episode:

  • Darkest Hour: Clarkson takes the restaurant's rejection as this. His voiceover sells the point.
Clarkson: Diddly Squat Farm was now wounded. With no proper carpark, the shop was a ship holed below the waterline. And the restaurant dream... was dead.
  • Loophole Abuse: The theme of this episode.
  • Obstructive Bureaucrat: The West Oxfordshire Town Council, as usual.
  • Pet the Dog: Rather than get on Clarkson's case when they're cultivating, Kaleb sympathizes that with the way the field's been done even he wouldn't be able to see where he's supposed to go.
  • Pop-Cultural Osmosis Failure: Kaleb, due to his country bumpkin natures, mishears NASA with "Nassi".
