Calvin is assigned a report on bats to do for school. Unwilling to do any actual research into the subject of bats, Calvin decides to try getting a good grade through misdirection and theatricality.

- Filler: In-universe example. Calvin plans on doing an entire report on bats despite only using one actual fact on the species by utilizing filler techniques to make the report seem robust. Probably wouldn't have worked anyway, but the fact that his singular fact was completely incorrect made it even worse.
- Insane Troll Logic: Calvin reasons that bats must be bugs because they fly, they're ugly, and they're hairy.
- In-Universe Factoid Failure: Calvin doesn't want to do any research for his report on bats, so he decides to build his entire report around one actual fact and gird the remainder with filler. Unfortunately his one fact is that bats are bugs, which is obviously false, so the shortcomings of the rest of his report are even more obvious than they should be otherwise.
