"Sangre por Sangre" is the 4th episode of Season 7 and the 144th overall. It originally aired October 15, 2010.
The leaders of a Puerto Rican gang are being picked off one by one. Mac recruits their founder, who has recently been released from prison, to help prevent a gang war.

Tropes for the episode:

  • Impaled with Extreme Prejudice: The first victim goes thru a hotel window and gets skewered by a spike on an awning directly below.
  • Knows a Guy Who Knows a Guy: Adam and Sheldon are discussing an illegal type of fish they keep finding in bottles of booze, much like a worm in tequila. Adam says he can find out who's been buying them. Sheldon wants to know how he knows who to call seeing as the fish are illegal.
Adam: Well...I know a guy, who knows a guy, who knows a guy, [Sheldon starts walking away] who knows another guy...
  • Marked Bullet: The gang and their rivals carve their initials into their bullets as a way of taking credit for their kills.
  • Non Fatal Explosion: Mac is propelled by an explosion that destroys a restaurant, but has no injuries, other than a momentary ringing in his ears right after it happens.
  • Once More, with Clarity: The episode opens with Mac involved in a shoot-out, but it's unclear who's aiming at whom. The story backs up after the credits and when we get to that scene again, the mystery is cleared up (see details below).
  • Only a Flesh Wound: Played more realistically than many examples of this trope. During the shoot-out, right-handed Mac's left arm is hit after he calls for back-up. He holds it against his body from then on, slows down, and winces in pain a few times while continuing to hunt down and fire at the remaining gang leaders.
  • Stab the Scorpion: The opening has Mac chasing a gang member with whom he has a respectful rivalry through an abandoned building. The other man raises a gun in Mac's general direction and fires, then the scene cuts back to some days earlier. The scene is revisited near the end, revealing that he had been aiming at another gang member, whom he'd been trying to kill earlier and who was sneaking up on Mac.
