Recap / BoBoiBoy S1 E8 "Justice Does Not Sleep!"

Go To

Tok Aba recaps the events of the previous episode, and this one starts off with him being as surprised as everyone that Papa Zola has appeared in the living room. Gopal is ecstatic to meet him, and Papa Zola sees the truth in Gopal's claim that he is his number one fan. Meanwhile on Adu Du's spaceship, the villain of the video game, the Sleep Monster, was also unleashed from the game. After asserting his authority to the newcomer, Adu Du tells the monster about BoBoiBoy so he can get the monster to destroy him.

Yaya accidentally incapacitates Papa Zola with her biscuit she offered him since he was hungry. Then Adu Du calls from outside BoBoiBoy's house. A fight between the Kid Heroes and the Sleep Monster ensues. Large bubbles blown by the monster trap all the good guys except for Gopal and BoBoiBoy in deep sleep. Gopal turns some bubbles into banana fritters before BoBoiBoy makes a strong gust to blow the rest of them back at the enemies, trapping them in sleep as well.

The two of them wake up Papa Zola and explain what happened. The bubbles, according to Papa Zola, are the way into the Sleep Monster's Dream World, and the only way to free their friends is to defeat the monster in his own realm. With Papa Zola's help, Gopal reverts some banana fritter balls into bubbles again and they enter the Dream World, which looks very alike to the TV show's setting. BoBoiBoy's friends are still asleep and the Sleep Monster's turned into a giant. Papa Zola magnifies his own size to fight him, but BoBoiBoy and Gopal convince them to settle things by different means: a game of checkers. The Sleep Monster allows this with one condition: all of them have to be the checker pieces.

This episode provides examples of:

  • Cliffhanger: The episode ends with everyone trapped in the Dream World, the unconscious and conscious superheroes and company trapped as checkers game pieces on top of a building for the giant Sleep Monster and Papa Zola to play, with their freedom at stake.
  • Faux Horrific: In the last attempt to get Gopal scared enough to revert the banana fritter balls into bubbles to get to the Dream World, Papa Zola gives him a Mathematics test, which Gopal reacts with a Big "NO!". He sweats as he's answering it, then Papa Zola snatches it from him when the time is up and acts disappointed while looking over it. Gopal is very anxious over what the results may be, which Papa Zola encourages him to use to turn back the balls into bubbles. Gopal is delighted when he successfully does so, and isn't that disheartened over getting a C.
  • Literal-Minded: Adu Du announces from outside BoBoiBoy's house that he has a present for BoBoiBoy. When Probe understands that the Sleep Monster is that present, he wraps up the monster offscreen to put in a present box.
  • You, Get Me Coffee: When Adu Du gives the newcomer monster the mission to destroy BoBoiBoy, Probe asks if he has a mission. Adu Du replies yes - to go and fetch him a drink.
Probe: Aw... just that? What am I, a waiter?
