Recap / Bluey The Quiet Game

Go To

An overwrought Bandit challenges the kids to be silent for as long as possible, which makes it difficult for them to buy a birthday present for Muffin. Meanwhile, a young man named Alfie is anxious about his first day of work in a toyshop.

This episode contains the following tropes:

  • Crowded-Cast Shot: An in-universe example; there are 175 Moonlight Unicorns shown, enough to take up a whole wall of the store a la Funko Pops. Some of them are duplicates, but not a lot.
  • Hoist by His Own Petard: Bandit makes up the quiet game to get his kids to be quiet so he could relax, but then it comes back to bite him when they decide to keep playing it when he needs to go get a birthday present for Muffin. They know what toy to get her but refuse to outright say it, instead miming it out.
  • Nice to the Waiter: Bandit compliments Alfie effusively for his help.
  • Self-Imposed Challenge: In-universe example; even after finding out that "the quiet game" is something Bandit invented to get them off his back, the kids stick with it because it's fun.
  • Tempting Fate: When Bandit can't figure out the exact toy to get Muffin, he just grabs one at random even if it is one she already has, asking what's the worst that could happen. Bluey and Bingo answer for him by acting out what will happen quietly, showing how Muffin will throw a giant tantrum. This convinces Bandit to keep looking for the right toy.
