Darkstar uses one of Gwen’s spells to travel to Ledgerdomain and romance Charmcaster.
- Do with Him as You Will: After Michael proves that he never cared for Charmcaster by failing to recall her given name, the latter banishes him from Legerdomain and leaves him at the mercy of Ben's team.
- Foil: This episode contrasts Gwen and Kevins’ relationship with that of Darkstar and Charmcaster. Gwen and Kevin have their fights and it seems like a mismatch, but the pair do have genuine feelings for each other. Meanwhile, Darkstar is just using Charmcaster to get power.
- I Know Your True Name: Charmcaster tells Michael her given name of “Hope” as a sign of trust. It’s a testament to his self-centredness that he can’t even remember it.
- Nice Job Breaking It, Hero: Kevin moved Gwen’s spell-book to his garage, which moved it out of the 15 protective charms she cast a n her house and allowed Darkstar to steal it.
- Nice Job Fixing It, Villain: Darkstar’s pet name for Gwen helps Charmcaster realize how selfish he really is when he says it in her hearing range.
- Pinball Protagonist: Ben and co basically only appear because they’re the main characters. Only Gwen contributes to the plot, by helping Charmcaster Spot the Thread.
- Snap Back: When last seen, Darkstar was given enough energy to revert to his normal looking appearance. Here, he’s once more emaciated and wearing the helmet.
- Took a Level in Dumbass: Michael seems to have lost touch with his Manipulative Bastard skills since his Morningstar days. He starts indulging in Evil Gloating after getting Drunk On Power to the point he starts Saying Too Much, tipping off Charmcaster that he doesn't really love her. It all culminates when Charmcaster tests him by asking if he remembers her given name (having already told him earlier), and Michael fully proves that he never cared for her by failing to recall it.
