New Year's Eve, 1949, where Howard Stark and Peggy Carter are fighting off HYDRA goons through New York City, before an unusual temporal event transports them to New Year's Eve right here and now.

- Hero of Another Story: The future Iron Man, who's apparently been tussling with Kang himself, and is such a problem Kang's willing to throw time and space a new one to get rid of him.
- Idiot Ball: Howard and Peggy caught Dr. Faustus and had time to tie him up and dump him in Howard's trunk, but never bothered to remove his hypnosis ring. So when he gets loose...
- Mugging the Monster: A gang of punks try intimidating Dr. Faustus. He just hypnotizes them to attack Steve and Peggy, which leads to a second use of this trope.
- Retgone: Kang's plan is remove Howard Stark from the timeline, so Tony Stark will be erased, so Arno Stark will also be erased.
- Ripple Effect Indicator: Tony's gauntlets start to vanish as Howard's removal from his native time and place, and reappear once everything's put right.
- Robotic Reveal: Peggy learns the supposed HYDRA goons are not HYDRA when she shoots one and his face falls off, revealing the wires and circuits beneath.
- Victory-Guided Amnesia: Due to the time travel, Howard and Peggy don't recall their adventure on return to their own time.
