Recap / Avengers Assemble S 2 E 26 Avengers World

Go To

The Black Order is defeated, but now they must deal with their leader Thanos. The battle may prove difficult as the Mad Titan wields a new power from New Korbin but, with Earth on the line once more, the Avengers will need to give their all to beat him.

Tropes:

  • And the Adventure Continues: The season ends with Thanos defeated, and with that crime on Earth dips to a world-wide low. Natasha is offered a job with the UN, and is seriously considering taking it. Meanwhile, Tony proposes to Cap the Avengers go on a recruitment drive.
  • Badass Bystander: The citizens of New York tell Thanos to go get lost, even pelting him with stuff.
  • Early-Bird Cameo: Tony's diagram at the end of the episode has pop-ups for Captain Marvel and Black Panther.
  • Energy Absorption: Tony tries doing this to defeat Thanos, but the energy is so exotic it overloads and fries his giant armor. All it accomplishes is shrinking Thanos a little.
  • From a Single Cell: Thanos is defeated and explodes into tiny, tiny particles. Tony figures he'll reform eventually... in a few centuries.
  • Mythology Gag:
    • Tony's giant Iron Man armor is based on that of Ultimate Iron Man (as in the not in continuity with the rest of Ultimate Marvel series), complete with the googly eyes.
    • Thanos's power source is quantum force, usually the stuff that empowers Quasar.
    • A citizen throwing a brick at Thanos is taken from the opening issue of Mighty Avengers (2013).
  • Offscreen Moment of Awesome: A lot of Nat managing to convince the UN to actually help is left off-screen.
  • Offscreen Teleportation: The Avengers steal the Black Order's ship and head to Earth, but then the Order, none of whom have teleportation abilities and were just shown being left behind on the Moon, suddenly show up in the ship anyway.
  • Put on a Bus: At the end, the Black Order are sent off to the Guardians of the Galaxy.
