Running announcements on tram: "[...] Please! Stay away from electrified rails...."
Gordon Freeman: "Ha! Wow... I mean, how dumb would you have to be? I mean, they're not gonna say something like that unless somebody's already tried to do it, right?"
Freeman's Mind, episode 1

"There's no way to rule innocent men. The only power any government has is the power to crack down on criminals. Well, when there aren't enough criminals, one makes them. One declares so many things to be a crime that it becomes impossible for men to live without breaking laws. Who wants a nation of law-abiding citizens? What's there in that for anyone? But just pass the kind of laws that can neither be enforced nor objectively interpreted—and you create a nation of law-breakers—and then you cash in on guilt."
Floyd Ferris, Atlas Shrugged

"You can't hold me responsible for what kids do when - hey! This is my stuff they stole! That's the last straw! Bender should not be allowed on television!"
Bender himself, Futurama, "Bender Should Not Be Allowed On Television"

Judge Bertuccio: A compelling closing Miss Staines.
Ms. Staines: Thank you.
Judge Bertuccio: And I'm sure the jury found it persuasive as well. How about you Mr. Barba? What was your take? Did you find it illuminating, perchance?
ADA Barba: Your honor, I stand by the evidence.
Judge Bertuccio: I don't care about the evidence. I care about the law, or the lack thereof. You're a talented prosecutor with a bright future, and if I were you, I'd take Miss Staines out for a cup of that gourmet coffee everyone drinks nowadays, and beg her to accept a plea to a lesser charge... which I'm sure she'll accept because she's a reasonable woman, and knows her client is a repulsive human being. Judges and prosecutors are supposed to enforce the laws that exist, not the ones they think should exist, and when they lose sight of that, they run the risk of having their pants pulled down in public and having their sterling reputations sullied.
