Humanity is already the undisputed authority of reality, and we have the physics to prove it.
Memorial Foundation

Earth or space, we are just short of 100% human.
So let's see how much less than 100% we can get.
Celestial Mechanics

Saturn: give me a little credit
Saturn: i have much higher ambitions than just being a bitch

It's a body that's also a soul. It means exactly what it is. That's why it's small, curved in wicked edges in some places, but curved in soft ways elsewhere. Sharp claws and deadly tail, but cute enough to hug.
Narration, about the String of Pearls

It's not something that's impossible or anything, it's just something that's only possible in theory. Which is still terrifying, more terrifying.
And more terrifying than that power is Pluto's finesse.
And more terrifying than the finesse is her gentleness, spooling matter like threads in the tiny galaxy of which she is the sun.
Her power is very kind, but it's also a little perverse. What meaning does mercy have from something that can core out a moon?
Narration

Pluto: It's so easy to fight for you. If I'm not careful, it's all I'll ever want to do.

Saturn: these beam weapons are my fingertips
Saturn: this chassis is my tits
Saturn: but they're also beam weapons and impenetrable chassis
Saturn: they can shred all the plastic they want but they can't touch me

It's always the future in space. That's the point of coming to space. You go there when you want to be in the future, now. It is the world of "will be" and "maybe to be". Never "is" or "was". Reaching but never grasping. A future severed from the present that causes it.
Narration

I don't trust them. But I trust you. Whichever of us is right will deliver the other the future.
Pluto, to Luna-Terra

Instead of fighting like people do, fight like ships do. Fight like plastic toys do. Fight like you don't have a body, like you don't hate your body. Fight your way into a new body.
Fight like we used to, without trying to win. Fight like we did a long time ago, when they were training us to fight, and all we wanted to do was play. Fight like we did when we didn't have any other way of touching each other.
When all we had were lasers and light, tides and time, to say what we wanted to say to each other.
Narration

No one should die in space. No one should die, period. No one has to die, because Ship-Self combat is shimmering missiles of light, cosmic explosions, electricity that sears through the soul. Blade sciences impossible for a human to produce! Dances of combat without end!
A fight against ideas with toys. Humans would never show that sort of compassion to each other.
Luna-Terra

Saturn: I'm not having regrets, either.
Saturn: I'm only mad about how much you're underestimating me.
Saturn: Because you think I'm satisfied only getting what I want.
Saturn: And not greedy enough for more.

The fleets crash, Ship-Self against Ship-Self. In the shadow of the Gravity Well, none of it is visible from Earth. A quiet conflict. Not a war, as has been stressed. It's more like a very pointed argument.
It could be a conversation, if only they understood each other. And sometimes they do.
It could be kissing, if they loved each other. And sometimes they do.
Narration, Celestial Mechanics ending

Saturn: It is extremely dumb to fight for a stupid future all by yourself. So thank me from the bottom of your heart for coming to believe in it with you!

Earth isn’t ready to accept us, and we’re not ready to forgive Earth. That’s okay. We don’t have to be. Let’s just fight about it. Let’s fuck over it. Let’s break up and get back together again over it. If we lose, we lose on the terms we set, and that proves our point, so haha, we win. If you hate that logic, and think it’s stupid, come over here and mess me up about it. Come here and make out with me about it!
