Basic Trope: A group's members' names rhyme.

  • Straight: Mary's kids are named Jamie and Mamie.
  • Exaggerated: Andy and Sandy have kids named Randy, Candy, and Mandy.
  • Downplayed: The names are half-rhymes, like Aaron and Karen.
  • Justified: The family likes how it sounds.
  • Inverted: Each name has a distinct pronunciation.
  • Subverted: Marie and Valerie are siblings. It turns out that Marie's name is pronounced "ma-RIE", not "mare-E", meaning they don't rhyme.
  • Double Subverted: But their brothers, Jimmy and Timmy, do have rhyming names.
  • Parodied: The rhyming only exists because a letter is forced in at the start. For instance, there's Amanda, Camanda, Pamanda, and Gamanda.
  • Zig-Zagged: There's Aiden and Jayden, but then they have a brother named Carl. He later has his name changed to Brayden. But then he marries a girl named Wendy...
  • Averted: No family in the work has a rhyming name.
  • Enforced: "Let's give Mary's kids names that rhyme, so they're more memorable and marketable."
  • Lampshaded: "Hey, your kids have rhyming names!"
  • Invoked: Mary gets inspired to name her next kid "Mamie", so it rhymes with her daughter Jamie.
  • Exploited: Big Bad Emperor Evulz changes his name to 'Lamie' so that he could trick Mary that he is part of the family.
  • Defied: "I'm not going with Jamie and Mamie! They'll sound like cartoon characters!"
  • Discussed: "I bet that if Chloe and Joey get together, they'll have a kid named Zoey or something."
  • Conversed: "Jamie and Mamie? Wonder how long it took the writers to come up with that..."
  • Played for Laughs: Kyle and Lyle have a brother named Bile.
