Basic trope: When the second title in a series doesn't include the number 2, but instead adds one to a number found in the first title.
- Straight: The first installment of the Tropers series is called Tropers 2, and the sequel is called Tropers 3.
- Exaggerated: The Tropers series gets Spin-Offs whose first installments are called Troper Alice 2 and Troper Bob 2, whose sequels are called Troper Alice 3 and Troper Bob 3.
- Inverted: Tropers 1 is the sequel to Tropers 2.
- Subverted: A prequel to Tropers 2 called Tropers 1 is released.
- Double Subverted: Tropers 1 is deemed non-canon.
- Zig Zagged: Tropers 1 is released, then deemed non-canon, then a new version of Tropers 1 is released, then deemed non-canon again.
- Parodied:
- Tropers 2's sequel is called Tropers 2 2.
- The Tropers series has idiosyncratic naming schemes based on the n formula: Like Tropers n^2, which gives us the sequel to Tropers 2 as Tropers 4, and the sequel to Tropers 4 is Tropers 16, etc.
- Averted: The first installment of the Tropers series is called just Tropers or Tropers 1, and the sequel is called Tropers 2.
- Lampshaded: Tropers 2's subtitle is "No, there's no film called Tropers 1."
- Conversed: "Someone is going to look for the first one without knowing Tropers 2 is actually the first one".
