Basic Trope: Someone asks a supernatural person (usually God or Santa Claus) for snow on Christmas despite it not usually snowing where they live. They're successful.

  • Straight: Little Alice lives in Florida but wants it to snow on Christmas, so she writes to Santa. The next morning, it's Christmas and it is indeed snowing.
  • Exaggerated:
    • Alice lives in Australia, where Christmas is in the summer, but it still snows when she writes about it to Santa.
    • Alice writes to Santa asking for snow and then instantly there's a whole blizzard.
    • Alice writes to Santa asking it to snow, which it does— all over the entire Earth.
  • Downplayed:
    • Alice lives in England, where snow falls less than half the time on Christmas but it's not too unlikely, so while it does indeed snow after she writes to Santa, it may have been a coincidence.
    • Alice writes to Santa asking for snow and on Christmas it does snow, but not enough to make a snowman.
  • Justified: Santa can control snow.
  • Inverted: Alice writes to Santa, asking for the blizzard to go away on Christmas. It does.
  • Subverted:
    • Alice writes to Santa and asks for snow, but because she's still in Florida, it doesn't snow.
    • Alice writes to Santa asking it to snow and then it appears to be snowing, but it turns out that Bob set up a snow machine.
    • Alice writes to Santa asking for it to snow, then the next day it's snowing... because they're visiting Canada for Christmas.
  • Double Subverted:
    • Not until nighttime.
    • But when Bob turns the snow machine off, it starts to actually snow.
    • But then when they're in Canada, they watch the news, which is reporting snow in Florida.
  • Parodied: Alice's TV shows only static after she asked for snow.
  • Zigzagged: Alice writes to Santa asking for it to snow on Christmas. Christmas Day has very changeable weather, where it sometimes snows, sometimes rains, and sometimes it's sunny.
  • Averted:
    • Alice does not ask for snow.
    • There is no Christmas Episode.
    • Alice lives in Norway, so it nearly always snows on Christmas anyway.
  • Enforced:
  • Lampshaded: "Santa must exist if it's snowing in Florida!"
  • Invoked: Santa says, "Come on, write to me for snow and I'll see what I can do."
  • Exploited:
  • Defied: "There's no way I'm writing to Santa for snow. We live in Florida, it ain't gonna happen."
  • Discussed: "So if you write to Santa asking for snow, can he provide if you live in Florida?"
  • Conversed: "Y'know, writers, snow isn't necessary for a merry Christmas."
  • Implied: Snow is seen on Christmas in Florida and Santa is seen winking, but there was no mention of him being written to.
  • Deconstructed:
  • Reconstructed:
  • Played for Laughs:
  • Played for Drama: This results in someone getting hypothermia.
  • Played for Horror:
