Basic Trope: The series is not in English, but occasionally adds words or phrases in faulty English with cringe-worthy results for anyone who knows the language well enough.
- Straight: Alice from the Swedish live-action show Alice och Bror occasionally uses mangled English phrases. Nobody corrects her, and her English skills may be an Informed Ability.
- Exaggerated: Alice works under the assumption that English shares the same puns and homonyms as her own language, leading to awkward moments like "I'm Alice. He's Bror. No, we are not sisters, he is just called sonote ."
- Downplayed:
- Alice's accent is incredibly thick, but she writes English much better.
- Alice occasionally makes minor grammatical errors but they are not particularly noticeable or grating.
- Justified:
- Alice has a Foreign Culture Fetish for the USA or the UK. She also happens to be a Know-Nothing Know-It-All who wants to prove what she knows as often as possible.
- ... Or she wasn't paying attention when learning English in school, but was put into a situation where she had to use the language anyway.
- Inverted: Alice is supposed to be bad at English, but what we hear makes it clear that that is just an Informed Flaw.
- Subverted: Alice is asked to demonstrate her English. She gets flustered and tells everyone that she isn't very good at English... While speaking fluent English.
- Double Subverted: ... Except while Alice is good at English, her actress is not, and it shows on the delivery of her lines.
- Parodied: ???
- Zig Zagged: After the events under Subverted and Double Subverted, Alice's actress is replaced with someone who actually can speak English as well as the character she portrays... For a season.
- Averted:
- Alice makes no attempt to speak English no matter the circumstances, or her knowledge of the language.
- Alice does not know any English at all.
- Enforced: "English is a hip language! We'll boost Alice och Bror's ratings by having someone speak it in the show!"
- Lampshaded: Bror: "... Alice, I don't think you got that across well."
- Invoked: ???
- Exploited: Alice is thinking about asking an English man out, so she asks a friend how to do that. Said friend actively sabotages the attempt by giving Alice bad advice, with Alice none the wiser until the English man storms out in a huff.
- Defied: Alice is stated to know a bit of English, but refuses to speak it until she has studied it for long enough.

- Conversed: "The authors just used Google Translate for this scene, huh?"
