Go To

Basic Trope: A young woman poses with her hands daintily behind her back to flirt, without seeming too much like flirting.
  • Straight: Alice poses this way when asking Bob out on a date.
  • Exaggerated: Alice does this every other time she talks to people, even when ordering a combo meal at the local Burger Fool (and sometimes the cashier will throw in some extra fries).
  • Downplayed: She daintily puts her hands on her lap when talking to Bob.
  • Justified: People in this small town still have a Women Are Delicate mentality, so she sometimes needs to do this when people otherwise would dismiss her.
  • Inverted: She assumes a powerful stance when asking Bob out.
  • Gender Inverted: Bob shyly puts his hands in his pockets when asking Alice out.
  • Subverted: It turns out Alice's hands are tied.
  • Double Subverted: She has trouble keeping her hands still when doing this, so the cuffs are her training wheels until she gets used to it.
  • Parodied: Doing this makes Alice's big chest bounce even more than normal.
  • Zig Zagged: Alice awkwardly switches positions a couple of times.
  • Averted: Alice doesn't do any pose when talking to Bob.
  • Enforced: The producer worries that Alice will look like The Vamp if she's too forthcoming to Bob.
  • Lampshaded: "Amazing just standing like that will get guys to listen to you."
  • Invoked: Bob hints that he likes dainty acting girls, since he kinds of wants to see Alice stand like that in her new tight sweater.
  • Exploited: Claire, an aggressive and much more straightforward Action Girl who also has a crush on Bob, notes this pose as an example of Alice's weakness to convince Bob to date her and not Alice.
  • Defied: Alice will do her best not to appear "weak" when talking to guys.
  • Discussed: ???
  • Conversed: ???
  • Played For Horror: Alice and Bob have found out the town is being taken over by a Hive Mind. When Alice does this pose around him, which she never did before, it's a sign she's also been taken.
  • Implied: Alice makes this pose, but the scene cuts before we find out if she was actually flirting.
  • Deconstructed: Alice would like to be much more overt and seductive towards Bob, but she has been socialized to believe that it is inappropriate. As a result, she can't do anything more than pose like this, and Bob fails to take the hint.
  • Reconstructed: Alice gains more confidence and gets over her guilt about her sexuality, and thus able to communicate her feelings to Bob. However, her new, more seductive and overt flirting style still includes this pose just because she likes it.
