Basic Trope: Two characters, who had previously harbored a secret fetish, discover that they share that fetish and live happily ever after.

  • Straight: Alice really likes TV Tropes, and it turns out Bob does as well. They enjoy TV Tropes for the rest of their days.
  • Exagerated: Alice discovers how much she really likes TV Tropes, and upon revealing it to anyone in-story, discovers that they share her passion for tropes, and the rest of the story centers on her wild, TV Tropes related orgies.

  • Downplayed: Alice and Bob are both interested in or curious about TV Tropes, and upon discovering the shared interest, decide to try it together.
  • Justified: TV Tropes is much more popular in Alice's universe than in ours, and focuses only on kink.
  • Inverted: Alice is strongly squicked by Wikipedia, despite it being widely accepted, and it turns out Bob is as well. They avoid it like the plague together.
  • Subverted: Alice reveals her TV Tropes fetish to Bob, and he so disgusted he never talks to her again.
  • Double Subverted:
    • Alice reveals her TV Tropes fetish to Bob, who acts disgusted, but Bob later reveals to Alice that he has a secret fetish for pretending to be disgusted by other people's fetishes, which he and Alice share in addition to their TV Tropes fetish.
    • Alice reveals her TV Tropes fetish to Bob, and a Reaction Shot is paid to his horrified expression, before he admits lightheartedly that he shares her affection for troping.

  • Parodied: Alice and Bob are deeply repressed up until a twist event forces them to unveil their hidden desires, upon which they fall madly in love and have hot monkey sex on screen.
  • Zig Zagged: Alice reveals to Bob that, over the course of their long-term relationship, she has only encouraged his love of TV Tropes for his happiness, but it has left her unfulfilled. She leaves him and embarks on an emotional journey to find someone who shares her unusual fetish for The Other Wiki. Along the way she meets a bunch of weirdos, and attempts to satisfy herself sexually through a few flings, until she encounters a partner who shares her kink and meets her physical ideal. However, when she goes on a few dates with him she realizes he has a repugnant personality. In the end, she decides that she would rather have an emotionally healthy but sexually stunted relationship with Bob rather than being repeatedly disappointed by those who share her kink.

  • Averted: Despite it being a kink-centric romance story, Alice and Bob's relationship does not invoke this trope.
  • Enforced: ???
  • Lampshaded: ???
  • Invoked: ???
  • Exploited: Alice needs to get close to Bob, and so pretends to be really into TV Tropes to get his attention.
  • Defied: Alice likes TV Tropes. Bob does not. They nonetheless have a healthy and functional relationship.
  • Discussed: ???
  • Conversed: ???
  • Deconstructed: Alice goes on an impassioned search for a partner who shares her intense love of TV Tropes, and finds only persons who are otherwise ill-suited to her romantic tastes. She then meets Bob, who is superficially her ideal man, down to the obsession with TV Tropes. However, after a short but intense fling during which they eat, sleep, live, breathe and sex TV Tropes, they discover that they have little else in common besides their fetish. They part ways emotionally broken, without hopes of ever being able to express their kink again.
  • Reconstructed: Same situation as the above, except that after a troubled search to find an appropriately kinky partner, with a few failed relationships along the way, Alice finds a partner who shares both her kink and other traits and interests vital to their compatibility.

Y-You like TV Tropes too? That's soooo exciting!
