Basic Trope: Questing destinations will be in the closest area(s) that were previously inaccessible.
- Straight: In Tales of Troperia XVI, the main quest is picked up in the First Town and your first destination is the next door Hub City, followed by the Hidden Elf Village a little up the road from there, then the Lethal Lava Land just beyond that, etc. etc. until you've visited the entire continent.
- Exaggerated: All of the places you must visit are literally along the same road only short distances apart.
- Downplayed: All of your quest destinations are relatively close, but there are optional areas to visit in between.
- Justified: The party is chasing after the Big Bad who keeps escaping to the nearest town.
- Inverted: Quest destinations are as far away as possible.
- Subverted:
- The quest destinations appear to be close, but due to the game world's geography, you need to go around plenty of mountains, rivers, lakes, etc. which make the journey longer.
- The quest's destinations are close to one another, but take you in the wrong direction (EG: to Antartica, while the Big Bad has holed up in Santa's Workshop).
- Double Subverted: ...however, an optional early side quest allows you to gain a Cool Airship which can fly right over the obstacles.
- Averted: Quest destinations are realistically all over the game world.
- Enforced: The game is the most simplistic in the series designed to attract new gamers and Convenient Questing was a design requirement to help with that.
- Lampshaded: Right before getting a new mission in the main quest, party member Quirby comments "let me guess, the person we need to find is in the next town over, right?"
