Basic Trope: A hybrid of cold-blooded creatures.

  • Straight: A Sea Monster is a lizard with frog legs, gills and fish fins.
  • Exaggerated:
    • A Sea Monster is a lizard with crocodile jaws, hammerhead shark eyes, a venomous bite, axolotl gills, shark fins on the back, frog legs, a long serpentine tail with a goldfish-like fin in the end, and a terrifiying-looking penis.
    • A Sea Monster is a mixture of almost all ectothermic body plans, with a serptentine head with viper fangs, axolotl gills, stag beetle jaws, spider eyes, antennae, pit viper pits, jellyfish tentales, a sponge as a neck, a cobra hood, sea urchin spikes, a turtle shell, coral on the back, octopus tentacles, scorpion claws, spider legs, butterfly wings, frog legs, fish fins, spinnerets, a shark tail, a bee stinger, and a penis so terrifying that looking at it makes you go insane.
  • Downplayed: A Sea Monster is a lizard with slimy skin and a tadpole-like fin.
  • Justified:
  • Subverted: A Sea Monster's lizard-like front half is shown, but it is revealed to be a normal lizard.
  • Double Subverted: But then it shows its gills when forced into water.
  • Averted: There are no hybrids.
  • Parodied: A Sea Monster is a lizard, a toad and a fish glued together.
  • Implied: A lizard skin is seen in deep water.
