- General Zod and his cohorts in this movie show just how terrifying it can be to have three practically invincible evil Kryptonians wreaking havoc on Earth.
- Non, who not only commits a bunch of violence but often sports a Slasher Smile while doing so. This, along with the fact that he never speaks, makes him seem more of a beast than a man.
- A depowered Clark getting beaten up by some a bully at a diner, leaving him bewildered at the sight of his own blood and fearing for Lois' safety.
- Superman's de-powering sequence is grotesque; at one point his skin seems to be melting away from his face until only muscle, some tissue, eyeballs and then bones can be seen.
- The murders of the astronauts and cosmonaut on the Moon. The cosmonaut is sent drifting helplessly, then has his air hose forcibly disconnected, one of the astronauts has the NASA patch ripped off his suit and is similarly kicked off into space while dying, and the other is crushed inside the landing module. Any member of any space program will tell you that a suit puncture, much less those kinds of damage, would mean certain and quick death.
