Ghouls Don't Scoop Ice Cream is the 31st installment in the Bailey School Kids series, released in May 1998.
A gothic girl named Scout starts working at the kids' favorite ice cream joint, informing them that she's looking for a stone home near the cemetery - leading them to suspect she may be a ghoul.
The book provides examples of:
- Emo Teen: Downplayed, but Scout has a rather morose appearance and demeanor...until the end.
- Riddle for the Ages: What brought Scout to the city, and what was her connection with Mrs. Jeepers? Neither of these questions are answered.
- When She Smiles: Towards the end of the book, Scout playfully joins in on the kids' fun at the ice cream store, even smiling.
