During Emily's Arc scene in Karaage Karaoke, she hides out in a private room while the rest are checking out a body belonging to a colleague of Reggie’s dad. After they're done with that, Reggie goes to to look for her and finds the room she's in, he finds her eating(expired) food. Reggie eventually figures out that she told the others to keep out of the room to spare their feelings since she most likely overheard that they can’t eat normal food as they are right now, while she still can(even if she can’t taste it). She silently nods to him after he says this.
In Pearl's second Arc scene, after she opens up to Reggie more about her father's abuse and how it messed up her hands, with him comforting her, she picks up a stethoscope and uses it to try and feel her own heartbeat. She says it should be racing from their moment together, and that she 'hates how wrong it feels'. Reggie then puts it to his, with Pearl saying "See? This feels right.". After saying he's a nice guy when he's not being a jerk, he tells her "And you're an amazing girl with more confidence than you realize. It took a lot of guts to tell me what you did today.". Pearl responds by saying she struggled with it, and was scared to tell him, thinking he wouldn't want to be around her anymore due to her "family being so messed up" and that she was "broken". Reggie says she's exaggerating on the last part, and Pearl agrees, feeling that it all feels like tiny bumps to get over, she feels more confident, that she's closer to both Reggie and Jordan now, and her dad is far away. After the rest of the group comes back, she thanks him for hearing her out and that she feels better now with that all off her chest.
