- At first it seems like Genya is your typical obsessed fan— he bursts into tears at Chiyoko's emotional scenes, appears jealous and resentful of her director's attempts to seduce her, and constantly inserts himself into her flashbacks as her sworn protector. And then it's revealed that Genya is not just a fanboy— he worked with Chiyoko on the sets of her movies as the director's assistant and actually did protect her from an earthquake during her last film. Chiyoko herself even remarks that Genya was always looking out for her. This turns heartbreaking when we learn the whole truth: on top of respecting her both as an actress and a person, Genya was deeply in love with her.
