Heartwarming / Kate

• Kate and Ani may start out constantly arguing with each other, but over the course of the movie they develop a bond that actually ends up being really sweet; something akin to a mother-daughter or big sister-little sister relationship.
• Once Kate changes her mind and decides to protect Ani, it becomes clear that Ani now thinks Kate is actually really cool and begins to look up to her. She even gets her a cute shirt to replace the one that got stained with blood in her last fight, and some sunglasses to match.
• After killing Jojima, blood gets splattered onto Ani's face, causing her to lapse into a PTSD flashback of when she witnessed her father getting killed. Kate notices this and decides to comfort her, talking her down from her panic attack and even pulling her into a hug. This marks the first real moment where we begin to see Kate's more vulnerable side.
• Kate and Kijima's interactions in general after she discovers his true ingenuity.
  • One such thing entails Kijima not wishing to make things difficult for her and putting himself in the position to be executed if Kate does not believe him about Varrick. Doubles as a moment of awesome.
  • After Kate is shot by Ani who then goes with Varrick, Kijima goes over to her and hands her the adrenaline shot she needs to inject herself with as it's just out of reach.
  • When Kate and Kijima are on their way to stop Varrick, Kijima sees Kate eyeing the soft drink bottle he pulled out and instead of drinking it, offers it to her instead.
• While the two of them are in the car on the way to Kijima's location, Ani tells Kate that, although she never knew her mother, she would've been a "total killer babe" just like Kate. Then Kate falls asleep on Ani's shoulder…and Ani proceeds to take pictures of them on her phone.
• The final scene of Kate's death. After rescuing Ani, Kate begins to finally succumb to the effects of the poison, while Ani guides her outside and holds her in her arms, their final words to each other being:
  Kate: I know you.
  Ani: You're okay.
