  • Very out-of-place for this book. Among all of the horror, is "Message". A teenage boy is carrying a teddy bear through town, pointing things out about the world. He returns home, and his younger sister accuses him of stealing the bear. Their mother admonishes him for taking the bear, as the sister is sickly and can't go outside. As the little girl goes to sleep, the brother tells the bear to tell her everything he had showed it. The sleeping girl smiles as the bear fills her dreams with the outside world.
  • Likewise, "Fog". A hiker is suddenly enveloped by a thick fog. Resigned, he sits down and waits for the fog to lift. However, just then a figure calls out to him and extends a hand, guiding him out of the fog and down the mountain, quickly taking him back to his friends. Just as soon as he gets out of the fog, he looks back, only to see a wispy, smiling figure fading into the mist and bidding him farewell. Possibly the only benevolent spirit in the whole series.
  • "Rainy Day" from the end of the first volume features a family who see ghostly forms in the pouring rain outside their house. After each member of the family gets spooked they head to the grandma's room who tells them not to worry as the rain is starting to let up and that it will be summer soon. The last panel shows the outside now clear and sunny with the only remnants of the rain being a waterlogged street. Considering how these types of stories usually end it's a bit surprising to see an unambiguously happy conclusion for a change.
