Heartwarming / Equestria Girls: Sonic the Hedgehog

• In general, the close relationships Sonic develops with the Rainbooms, especially with Sunset and Rainbow Dash.
  • How Sonic had met Sunset is a pretty touching story. In a flashback to Sunset's first few days after the events of the first Equestria Girls movie where she was feeling sad, depressed, and guilty about her prior actions back when she was an Alpha Bitch to everyone (not helped by her becoming a social pariah in the entire school and being The Friend Nobody Likes at the time with the Rainbooms) and briefly contemplating suicide, Sonic had written her a letter to cheer her up and encourage her to make the first steps to her Heel–Face Turn and making amends with everyone. Here is the full letter:
  Sonic: Dear Sunset, you probably don't know me, but I've been watching you from the sidelines for quite some time. You may think I was writing you this letter just to put you down like the others. Well, you are wrong. I've seen the look on your face since lately after that night and I can tell you really are sorry for what you did. Even when you were bad, I don’t think you're an evil person at all. You are just a girl who made some bad decisions. I don't know what happened prior to that incident or most of the things you've done to others, but what I do know is that I'm not looking at the person who bullied others, I'm looking at a lonely girl who needed a friend. I know you're scared and that the whole world is against you right now, but don't let them wear you down and don't let your past define you. Show them that you've changed and be the better person because your past is not today! And you can start by letting those five girls in. Let them help you! Let them guide you! And most importantly, let them be your friends! And I'll be honored to be your first friend. Don't ever give up Sunset and always smile, even when things are tough. Your friend, Sonic
  • When Rainbow Dash realized how much of a jerk she was being to Sonic, she decided to finally let him in on why she hated the nickname "Skittles" by telling him about her Honorary Uncle Rainbow Blaze to which Sonic told Rainbow Dash about Longclaw. After exchanging stories, both Sonic and Rainbow Dash were able to finally bury the hatchet and become friends.
• Unlike with the Rainbooms, Sonic forms a friendship with the CMC even though they just met.
  • Made even better when the Rainbooms made Sonic a part of their family, with the CMC even accepting him as their adopted older brother.
• Compared to her pony counterpart initially having a strained relationship with her parents due to their Amazingly Embarrassing Parents tendencies and overencouraging behavior, human Rainbow Dash is shown to already have a better and healthier relationship with her parents.
• The CMC gifting Sonic a bracelet and made him a honorary member of their club.
• Sonic and Spike bonding over their love of superhero comics by talking about their favorite issues, fan theories, and even reenacting some of their favorite battle scenes.
• In the second movie, it is mentioned that in between the events of the first and second movies, Sunset was facing potential homelessness due to her rent for her apartment increasing to the point where her sushi waitress job wouldn't cover it anymore. When finding out about this, Sci-Twi immediately offered to let her move in at her house until they figured which dorm they will live in for college. Since then, the two would continue to grow closer and begin developing romantic feelings for each other leading to Ship Tease in the time of the second movie.
• Sonic has developed friendships with all the students of Canterlot High which was best shown when he casually talked to Bon Bon and even referred to her as "Candy Queen" to which she doesn't mind.
• Rarity promising to help make Applejack a new hat after her old one is destroyed in the school fire.
• Sonic pays Apple Bloom a visit during her grounding to cheer her up.
• Princess Twilight visiting the human world to see the Rainbooms' graduation in the second movie.
• Volume I Chapter 7 in the second movie introduces Discord's human counterpart. Unlike his Equestrian counterpart, he has a less tense friendship with the Rainbooms and has an easier time getting along with them.
  • It is shown he and Fluttershy have a good friendship like their Equestrian counterparts do (albeit without the Ship Tease due to Discord being an adult and Fluttershy being a teenager), spending time together at their tea party club.
  • He also has a pretty close friendship with Sunset in particular. It is mentioned he was one of the few faculty who was still nice to Sunset even after her actions at the Fall Formal in the first Equestria Girls movie by cleaning her defaced locker, defending her from other students, and giving her some advice as well as helping to clean up any mess from the Equestrian magic shenanigans the Rainbooms are involved in.
