     Overarching heartwarming 
  • In a weird way, being caught in incest turned out to be nearly what Jamie and Cersei really wanted in their lives.
    • Jaime wanted to be a great knight in a proud order, and to be able to love openly. He ended up joining The Night's Watch to make a better order, got to be The Avatar's trusted Number Two to have a truly noble purpose, and found a second love in Brienne.
    • Cersei wanted power, love, and to escape prophecy. She ended up finding all 3 three of those in various ways as the best friend, goodsister and Hand of the Queen to Daenerys Targaryen.
  • Bending turns out to make for a great indirect wake up call for many, spinning the world in different directions
    • With Jon firebending early, this means that Catelyn instead treats him positively as a nephew.
    • Due to the hatching of dragons, Aegon Blackfyre discovers his true heritage, and in a Gone Horribly Right way refuses a dishonorable quest to find his own way in the world.
    • Since icebending is more difficult in the south, Sansa wakes up to how wonderful her home is.
      • This also allows Sansa and Arya to be a lot closer than their canon counterparts.

     Backstory heartwarming 
  • In this world, while Aang learned he was Avatar YOUNGER than in canon, the air nomad genocide never happened, so he lived his life relatively free of guilt.
    • Gyatso is also his first traveling companion, acting as a father to the growing Avatar.
    • He even made friends with Ho Ting, who supported and believed in him even until his end.
    • While traveling alone for the first time, destiny showed that an avatar is never alone for long. As Katara and Sokka sought him out as a prophecy called them to teach and work alongside him.
    • Despite dying young, Aang did have at least a few months of proper relationship with Katara in this timeline.
  • When Korra was living humbly, seeking to live while training, she ended up being taken in by Asami of House Sato in an act of grace that she was forever grateful to.
     Individual moments Book 1 
  • Thanks to the Avatar being a unifying figure in all cultures, The Free Folk and the North make a truce, allowing the Gift to serve as a medium to grow their respect for each other.
  • Setting off on their quest to learn more bending, Ygrette rides after Jaime and Jon, promising her lover that she'll follow them as a third member to their team.
  • While not a girl of high birth per se, Mya Stone proves to be a good friend to Ygritte during their stay in the Vale.
  • Even if he had his self image detonated, Joffery turns out to have something good inside him after all. As he dies not in cowardly arrogance, but as a brave youth who saved his Uncle's life.
  • In this world, thanks to benders, Brienne's elder brother survived his childhood accident, so she no longer has the same pressure of being the last heir of Tarth.
  • While training in the Eryie, Sweetrobin actually makes good friends with the entire team.
    • He's enthralled by Jon being the avatar.
    • He's glad that Jaime can actually teach him some sword fighting.
    • And he finds Ygritte a fun person to hang around.
  • Lady Whent, after the trauma of being captured and raped by Gregor, graciously thanks Team Avatar for saving her, then pledges herself to the Brotherhood without Banners to go to the Wall even as a nonbender.
    • On a similar note, Ygritte emphasizes to her that she'll be taught to be a true warrior by the Free Folk as she goes north.
  • The team's stay on Tarth is a nice vacation. Brienne's family is nothing but accommodating, even needling Jamie on his clear attraction towards their young lady.
  • The Martells also have no great love of Robert's blindness, with all the members of the family giving cheer and training in the safety of Dorne.

     Individual moments Book 2 
  • Lady Whent and Bronn talk through her trauma, and he eventually gives her a blessed night of pleasure again.
  • Ashara begins her own healing by meeting Jon Frost, seeing purpose, hope and encouragement with his arrival.
  • Theon is full of unease returning 'home' to the Iron Islands. But after checking to see if his mom's still alive, she embraces him wholeheartedly.
    • And even after all these years, she gives him one key piece of advice before Theon goes to see his father again. To never forget what he truly is: a good man.
  • On finding Jon again, despite losing so much of herself, Arya affirms that if she can't trust her cousin Jon, who could she trust?
  • Arya remembering enough of her life that she wants to relearn her life alongside Jon and Ashara.
  • Sansa forgives Theon for the loss of Rickon and tell him his compassion was not a weakness, and he did the best he could with the Boltons.
  • After council with the Dornish, Tyrion tells his remaining nephew that before going back to the Westerlands, they're going to pay a visit to a dear friend of his: Lady Allyria Dayne.
  • Sandor admits to Jamie that after leaving his family, he found serving on The Wall actually wasn't a bad new life.
  • After saving his life, Theon's only request of Jaime is to live his life well.
  • Bran, with his greenseeing, is able to confirm to the Starks that Arya is alive and with Jon.
  • Jaime and Brienne confess their love to each other on the ship to Essos.
  • Jaime takes the time to knight Brienne after linking back up with Jon, to ensure that all her friends can bear witness to it.
  • While disappointed by how things turned out in court, Margeary admits that it's nice that Arwyn's bastard half-brother Gendry has already endeared himself to the baby queen.
  • Cersei had a hard time learning of the death of her father and eldest. When they receive some Westerosi visitors, she hears that Mycella is among them, and immediately lets them in, happily embracing her daughter for the rest of the conversation.
  • While in route to Slaver's Bay, Brienne and Jaime have a quick discussion on what it means to see Cersei again. Jaime affirms that, while there was a lot there, what he learned by himself and what he got with Brienne won't turn his eyes away.
  • On finally arriving at Daenerys's throne room, the formalities are broken when Ashara and Aegon reunite in joy.
  • Mycella joyfully reuniting with her real father.
  • Jaime's awe and pride at being given Brightroar by his sister.
  • Ygritte being happy to see her old friend Mya being part of Dany's court.
  • Margaery giving a happy smile at seeing Arya alive and well.
  • Jon practicing flying on Druk the dragon, seeing in him a potential future for war, and the joys of seeing the world in awe on dragonback.
  • With their month of rest and training wrapping up, Jon iterates to his companions and new allies that the Avatar has his own duties to the world, and he won't compel anyone to come with him.
    • He mentions how happy Jamie has become, with Brienne, Cersei and Myrcella all getting along. But, Jamie iterates that as the sworn sword of the Avatar, this wasn't the end, but merely a reprieve.
    • Brienne says the same.
    • Then the adults hear word that Arya and Myrcella both wanted to keep going with Jon. Arya to stay close to her family, and Myrcella because she wants to start traveling with her new best friend.
    • Ashara also reiterates that she wants to continue the trip as well.
  • Despite Ygritte and Brienne's own skepticism about the elderly women who'll be in charge of teaching John in Asshai, Melisandre and Shiera both take it with good humor and a chuckle about the whole thing.
