  • When Gamble accidentally shoots a hostage, it causes a PR nightmare for the police department. The Captain advises Street to testify against Gamble — that Gamble was out of line and disobeyed orders. Street refuses; the Captain retaliates by kicking Street off the SWAT team and putting him in the gun cage, maybe for the rest of his career. Street next goes to visit Gamble. Gamble knows what's going on; he asks if Street cut a deal with the Captain and sold Gamble out, and Street gives him this incredibly gooey, guilty look, making Gamble assume the worst. Why didn't Street tell the truth? He wasn't afraid to criticize Gamble for being a Cowboy Cop, so why couldn't he say "No, bro, I didn't sell you out, and they're sticking me in the gun cage until I die of boredom. If you don't believe me, why don't you come visit next week, next month, or next decade, because I'll still be there"? It seems like Street was grabbing the Idiot Ball by being utterly loyal to Gamble while speaking to the Captain, then utterly disloyal to Gamble while speaking to Gamble, thus making an enemy of both parties.
    • Probably wouldn't matter what he said. Everyone else just assumes he was only able to stay in the police after selling out Gamble, while Captain puts him on the shitlist for not selling out.
