Headscratchers / Persona 4: Arena Ultimax

  • How come Kikuno did not disappear with everyone else in Inaba when the new Midnight Hour started, even though she does not have a Persona?
    • Didn't the other game mention that the Kirijo group could artificially create the potential within normal people?
      • Yeah...but this also doesn't make any sense that they could do that. We kinda need more proof to that.
      • The Persona 3 Club Book's Q&A states that anyone self-aware enough to be able to tap into their Shadow at least to a certain degree can stay conscious during the Dark Hour. Persona Abilities are a higher level extension of this potential, where the Shadow cannot only be recognized, but even controlled.
    • My assumption is that since Kikuno was flying the helicopter during the new Midnight Dark Hour, it is presume that General Teddie didn't make her disappeared since the three guest are up in the air and I doubt he wants them dead.
      • Kikuno states herself she's similar to Ikutsuki — Dark Hour sensitive but incapable of summoning a Persona.
    • This is all explained in the (never officially translated) Drama CD New Moon and Full Moon where Kikuno Saikawa made her first appearance. It involves some Spoilers for the audio plays, but the gist of it is that Kikuno was the test subject of a special ring that allows normal people to function during the Dark Hour and after years wearing the thing she eventually learned to keep herself awake during the Dark Hour on her own.
  • Why is Adachi still in jail at the end of his story? He confesses to the murders, but to regular people his testimony and evidence do not make any sense.
    • Yes...but after what he did in the past he decide to let the law sentence him while he awaits his fate.
      • The reason he's in jail is because he fully confessed with knowledge only the killer would know. The Police are sure he did it, since he admitted it, but they don't buy his reason. That's why the cop at the start of his story brings a lot of stupid things, their trying to find something to connect him to it.
      • But to convict someone of a crime, the police needs solid evidence, right? So even if Adachi confesses, won’t they have to eventually let him go anyways since there’s no way for them to concretely prove the existence of personas or the Midnight Channel?
  • Is this game’s story implying that Sho and Labrys could be wild cards? There’s some evidence for both. For Sho, it’s heavily implied in the story that he’s actually been to the Velvet Room and has been offered a contract by its residents, but he decided to reject it in return. However, he’s only shown to have one persona, Tsukiyomi, and he does not seem to know how to make or recruit new ones. As for Labrys, she’s like Goro Akechi from Persona 5 in that she technically has access to two personas, Ariadne and Asterius. However, she doesn’t know how to voluntarily summon Asterius yet and she can only do so by letting her shadow take control, as Sho found out the hard way. Also, on a side note, the idea of an Anti-Shadow Suppression Weapon being a wild card wouldn’t be implausible, since it’s happened before (*cough* The Answer *cough*). So, considering those points, is it possible that Sho and Labrys could have the power of the wild card, but either don’t know how to use it or aren’t aware of it? Could the anility be “dormant” in them?
