  • There is a major anachronism in this film with Tristan's long hair. This movie takes place between the 1910's to 1930's...long before long hair became in style for men. It is true that Tristan grew up around Native Americans which may have inspired his hairstyle but it doesn't explain why everyone he came in contact with was so accepting of it. Years later in the 1960's when hippies started growing long hair they were mocked and ridiculed and even beaten up for it..or worse. ( Look at the 1969 film Easy Rider where the two bikers are literally killed for being long-haired hippies). If it was that bad in the 60's just imagine how bad it would be for a man having long hair in the 20's...at the very least every person outside of the family would have mocked him for it or questioned it. And don't even get me started on him being allowed to keep his long hair while serving in the military.
