Why doesn't Hannah just look for a job and stop bugging her parents or her boyfriend for money? It's hard to believe that there aren't any jobs around in such an urbanized and solidly developed area like New York City, one of the most financially prospering cities in the world. New York City is one of the most popular destinations for millions of tourists, why wouldn't NYC be enriched with job opportunities?
She can, and she does; she's just lazy, selfish, and just doesn't want to work the jobs she's qualified for — i.e., low-wage jobs where she's expected to show up and put in effort, such as fast food, which she derides. It's Jessa (a known leech) that encourages her to demand her parents continue to support her artistic endeavors. To her credit, she does end up getting a job and working for Ray, even though she's hardly cut out for actual labor.

What does Hannah's saying "To treat someone's heart like it's monkey meat" actually mean?? I thought she graduated from college as an English major, what kind of foolish statement is this?
