  • The Quincies' whole schtick is their unique ability to destroy souls, completely removing their victims from the cycle of reincarnation. Yhwach, a Quincy, was the one who killed Yamamoto. So...why is Yamamoto in Hell?
    • I've seen this question popping up recently, it's really simple, actually. You can even go with one of these explanations a) What killed Yamamoto was the sword, not the arrows Yhwach summoned to blast his corpse, so his soul wasn't actually destroyed or b) The Quincies' soul-destroying powers only work on Hollows, thus everything else will just die like normal.
    • Also, bear in mind that earlier in the fight, Yhwach had found it amusing that Yamamoto's Bankai could summon the souls he'd killed as servants. Thematically, it would fit that Yhwach might have elected to leave Yamamoto's soul intact to further mock his ability.
  • The special establishes that Captain-level Soul Reapers' power is too great to remain in Soul Society. But as Kaien mentioned, the body is what becomes Reishi when people die, while Rukia stated earlier on that their souls reincarnate in the World of the Living. So...does that mean that the Captains' souls went to Hell, and that the funeral service gives them physical bodies there?
    • Alternately, it's possible the soul doesn't move on until the spirit body starts to dissolve into reishi. In the Captains' case, this would mean their souls would remain tethered to their bodies until cast into Hell.
