Funny moments in RE-TAKE:
- A fairly meta one, when comparing the original with the All-Ages version: after an Angel battle Shinji and Asuka start to have sex in the locker room when Rei walks in. In the original manga they continue what they're doing, and quite graphically at that; in the All-Ages release Asuka high kicks Shinji away before they can do anything.
- Upon offering Rei the olive branch by calling her by her first name, Asuka is asked to not do so. Deciding she is better off being herself, she proceeds to casually prank Rei by fitting a hose to a bathroom sink and putting the other end over Rei's stall and turning on the faucet. The last we see of this is an annoyed Rei having to deal with a cascade of water pouring over her head.
- Shinji's reaction to Asuka proposing to him.
- After Shinji and Asuka wake after the defeat of the mass-production series, and having no memories of anything that happened during the fanfic, and then finding out they were engaged. As anyone that has watched the series would expect, their reactions are priceless.
- After Shinji invites the 3rd Rei to his and Asuka's wedding, we have some Mood Whiplash to a humorous scene where after everything that Shinji said in such a heartwarming context, the 3rd Rei asks out of nowhere "what's a wedding?"
- How does NERV find Toji while they're trying to get all the pilots into the lower dogma? He tries to hack into Kaji's computer and accidentally sets off the sprinklers, giving away his location.
- Everyone at NERV trying to help Shinji reach Asuka before her plane leaves, with them treating it with the same attitude they display as a battle with one of the Angels.
- An unintentional one when Rei and Toji start a impromptu fist fight over Rei going on what amounts to a suicide mission in order to provide back-up for Shinji. Touji suddenly decking her then Rei socking him right back (granted, not nearly with the same amount of power) it comes out of no where for either of them, and ghost!Asuka shares our surprise. And Face Palm at the situation.
- An amnesiac Asuka enthusiastically greets Toji by his name, and Kensuke as "Glasses!" which Kensuke does not enjoy.
- A small panel shows that Asuka taped Pen-Pen inside his hidey-hole so she could jump Shinji.
- After Shinji tells Rei that he loves Asuka, with Asuka eavesdropping, when he returns home he suddenly finds Asuka grab his arm before she embraces him. Initially he is slightly shocked, then he's really shocked when he looks down and realizes that Asuka is naked.
