Funny / Catherine, Called Birdy

• Quite a few, but accidentally burning down the privy while trying to drive away an unwanted suitor is pretty close to the top of the list.
• When the floor catches fire, Catherine's father leaps into action by... pissing out the fire.
• Several of the things that happen to a few of Catherine's other suitors: when one approaches the manor, she pretends to be a villager, and implies that "the Lady Catherine" is a violent lunatic (he turns around right away). There's also her father hurling a chamber pot at one who had brought up the matter of a dowry — it lands on the poor guy's head).
• In one of Catherine's entries, she mentions she would rather be a pig boy then her current lot. A couple of entries later, she loses a ring in one of the pig pens. She finishes the latter entry with "Definitely Do Not Want to be the Pig Boy".
• At one point, Catherine asks Perkin for a kiss, just to see what it's like. He declines. The diary entry recounting this incident opens with "May Perkin rot in hell."
