In an apparent case of Even Evil Has Standards, Lickboot seems genuinely concerned about Robin's safety whenever she gets in serious trouble. Apart from his obvious Greed motivator, the reason behind this strange behavour may be way darker. As a lawyer, he knows exactly what crimes he and Figg would be charged with if Robyn got hurt. This can also explain why he looks so relaxed during his introduction scene: paying a police officer to find a child in a city district is easy. Paying a police officer to find a child in an isolated cabin in the wilderness is not. Especially when your client is responsible for burning it to the ground with the child inside.
The not-so-good Dr. Applecheeks could have run that kennel for a long time. Imagine what those poor animals could have suffered through...
Was Tom's original owner (the blonde woman we see in the first movie scene) planning to get rid of him? It's quite odd she didn't notice her pet was missing in her car.
As the movie comes to an end, it's never established what happened to Aunt Figg, Lickboot, and Ferdinand after they got stuck on Captain Kiddie's steamship. Were they arrested? Did they keep going inland? Did the boat crash ashore? No one knows.
