Fridge Brilliance

  • Phil calling Edwards an “asshole” may seem odd to some people, as “asshole” is usually only used to describe males; the usual insult for someone talking to Edwards would be “bitch.” But we later learn that Edwards doesn’t like that word. This speaks both to Phil’s chivalry and intelligence. Even when he’s hating her, he still respects that Edwards finds the word “bitch” sexist and insults her with something else; and/or even when he’s furious, Phil’s still smart enough to remember not to set off Edwards’ Berserk Button.
  • Having a puppet liver wouldn’t automatically induce a sugar addiction in someone. But Edwards’ body type suggests she may already have had a weakness for sugar. And that itself is not necessarily a bad thing, and Edwards doesn’t seem to be at an unhealthy weight, just on the bigger side. But, someone who already has a sweet tooth will certainly be at a higher risk for a sugar-snorting addiction upon receiving a puppet liver.
  • This poster, if you've seen the movie afterwards. It shows an arrow pointing from the word "MURDER" to Sandra White, the film's Big Bad.

Fridge Horror

  • The inbred children of Ezra and Cara are found wailing at their reflections in a mirror. At first it seems that they’re just reacting to their own reflections (either realizing with horror for the first time how mutated they look, or simply admiring themselves in their own inbred language). But moments later, Edwards and Phil discover the parents butchered in the bedroom. If being inbred has affected the children’s mental development, then it’s possible they thought their reflections were other people who they were trying to communicate the situation to.
  • Even if it was self-defense, and she had it coming, Sandra’s death will likely haunt Phil. He already felt guilty about killing her father, and now she’s dead—from the exact same cause of death (gunshot to the head). Phil may feel indirectly responsible for killing both father and daughter, wiping out a whole family.
    • However, there could be an inversion of this, as Sandra had Edwards held hostage. Having to choose between feeling guilty for killing both Sandra and her father, or letting Edwards die, the former seems more forgiving to him than the latter.
