Fridge Logic
- If Jaffen's species don't have fathers, where the hell did he come from? Why do they even have males?
- Presumably, males are the product of unfertilised reproduction, as in bees (or, for a popular sci-fi comparison, salarians from Mass Effect). Mr. Jaffen presumably has a grandfather but no father.
Fridge Horror
- Voyager's entire complement has been kidnapped, and the Doctor was left to crew the ship entirely on his own until Chakotay, Harry and Neelix returned. This means the Quarren took and brainwashed Naomi Wildman and Icheb.
- The Quarren didn't even bother to keep couples together, including Torres and Paris who are expecting, which seems either sloppy or unnecessarily cruel. Miral could well have grown up not knowing that her father was relatively close-by, and Paris would have never known he had a daughter. (Following on the above point, hopefully they had enough decency to keep Naomi with her mother.)
- Everyone being transported back once the shield grid drops might seem cool at first, but as The Main Characters Do Everything again, there's about 140 people who had no idea what was going on and suddenly found themselves transported to the cargo bay of a starship.
- The method the Quarren use to brainwash the crew and others could easily be used for even more degrading or dangerous purposes, like to make people think they were sex workers, soldiers or assassins, as in the premise of the series Dollhouse.
