  • The subway car that the group gets trapped in in episode 3, and how it enforces everyone talking through their differences and getting along, seems like a Contrived Coincidence, but think about it. The dystopia didn't start with the Sheriff; things were bad (if much better) even under King Richard, and before him there were 200 years of climate disasters, riots, and social issues made worse by greedy tyrants at the top all over the world. Viewed through this lens, Old London during the floods having a subway with an AI that traps vandals inside the cars or locks people in if they're arguing and only lets them go when they make up isn't a clumsy way to get across a moral about listening to each other; it's a sign that they had some serious problems.
