- Fridge Brilliance: Volume 2 states that Stacy Cornwallis was disfavored by her birth family because her biological father is Theodore McFarlane, and the fact she's more naturally talented than his children by blood was a constant reminder that she wasn't his. However, in volume 3, we're introduced to her older half-sister, Lynette Cornwallis, whose existence means that Theodore cuckolded Mr. Cornwallis to produce Stacy. This implication isn't mentioned in the text, but it justifies Cornwallis's dislike for Stacy even further: unfortunately for Stacy, it makes complete sense that Cornwallis wouldn't have enjoyed raising a reminder of his partner's infidelity (whether or not it was voluntary: mages' grasp of the concept of consent is shown to be questionable).
- Fridge Logic: In volume 5, Enrico Forghieri kills eleven mages trying to fend off Oliver's hit squad, at least some of whom were Kimberly students. While Gwyn and Shannon have a shapeshifting fourth-year on hand to impersonate Oliver while he's healing, and student deaths aren't exactly rare at Kimberly, the story never actually addresses how the comrades covered up that many deaths all at once.
