  • In Episode 3 (volume 1, chapter 2), the Sword Roses hold an intervention for Nanao after Oliver realizes Nanao is a Death Seeker. Between everyone, they get the truth out of her and encourage her to change her life outlook, with Oliver asking her to start living for herself.
  • The denouement of volume 1 (first half of episode 6). Oliver and Nanao are worrying over Katie after her ordeal at the hands of Vera Miligan, but she unexpectedly decides all's well that ends well: she didn't get dissected, Oliver and Nanao weren't seriously hurt rescuing her, and Marco the troll gets to live. Katie swears she's going to go give Miligan the biggest slap of her life and then decide how to deal with her going forward. Oliver is so relieved that the Cutie wasn't Broken that he breaks down into Manly Tears.
  • In volume 2 (episode 7), Oliver realizes Pete is having some kind of health problem, and quickly works out that he's become a Reversi overnight, in what is clearly meant as an allegory to LGBT Awakening. Oliver (and after he comes out to them, the other Sword Roses) is immediately on his side and starts instructing him on how to use this to his advantage, as well as later helping him treat the side effects. Then Carlos Whitrow shows up and invites Pete to the Sex Magic club—which likewise is very queer-coded—helping Pete realize there's nothing wrong with what he's become.
  • In volume 3 (episode 14), Alvin Godfrey's efforts to use Behavioral Conditioning so that he can be near Ophelia Salvadori without trying to jump her bones are equal parts heartwarming—because he's sincerely trying to make her welcome and show her that her Sex Magic doesn't have to define who she is as a person—and side-splittingly funny because of how he chooses to do it.
  • Oliver and Nanao's Overly Long Hug near the end of volume 4. They've admitted to their feelings for each other and it's the first time they really allow themselves to feel it. And the artwork is so cute.
  • Volume 5: Joseph Albright cuts in during sword arts class and gives Pete a few pointers that his usual tutor Oliver hadn't thought of, showing off his Character Development from Arrogant Kung-Fu Guy to Jerk with a Heart of Gold since the events of year 1.
“Come, Pete Reston. I’m not letting anyone whose name I learned stay a nobody forever. I’m gonna train you myself.”
  • Volume 10: Oliver and Nanao kiss and make up after what happened at the end of volume 9, and finally become the Official Couple after three years of dancing around each other. Even sweeter, when Their First Time goes awry because it hits Oliver's Trauma Button, Nanao comforts him and is fully willing to continue to be patient and give him time to work past it.
