I always thought Voodoo Mama's attacks were rather... awkward. She maneuvers her arms so that the player character will fall into the lava instead of using more direct means like swatting you with her hands, for instance. The closest she gets to doing something like this is when she uses her spiky elbows to try to impale the player. Then I realized. What was she doing when you came into the room? Painting her nails! The whole boss fight is essentially the equivalent of a woman trying to kill a bug that's crawling on her without ruining her nail job. Probably veers into Skewed Priorities territory once you do actual damage to her,with her prioritizing her nails over killing you, but eh...
